The Look on my Face
My wife assures me I have “the look”. A stone cold expression of disgust and condescension.
I confess I know she is right.
She has probably been the most frequent recipient of it but unfortunately this is the type of thing that probably happens most to the ones you care about the most. That being said it is probable that I have deployed this “look” hundreds of times in just the last few years alone. But knowing you do something and recognizing the impact of what you do are drastically different.
The “look” on the Face of God.
And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”(Luke 22:61).
I don’t think this was an angry look; a disappointed look. It creates a healthy brokenness in me as my heart realizes this truth: yet again I am reflecting me and not Jesus Christ. I said healthy not pleasant.
I think it was a look that said Come back Peter – you are still my Son – I still believe in you. I will never leave or forsake you!
I am working on my “look”. I want it to be more like His.
